Description

Writing, translating, and evaluating algebraic expressions is the focus of this easy-prep math game!

  • Great for centers, small group activity, or a whole-class game:-)

With 36 question cards, this math game offers students a choice of question types:

  • A "truth," which is a true or false question about translating algebraic expressions to words, phrases to algebraic expressions, or determining whether an algebraic expression was evaluated correctly
  • A "dare," which includes more challenging expressions, phrases, and problems to evaluate.
  • The different cards have different point values for students to earn. Students record their answers and points on their recording sheets.

These cards require students to:

  • Translate algebraic expressions to phrases
  • Translate phrases to algebraic expressions
  • Evaluate expressions given a value for the variable

This easy-prep resource includes:

  • Detailed directions
  • 36 cards (a set WITH background AND a set WITHOUT background - SAME set, just the option of a background for you when you print them)
  • Recording sheet
  • Answer key
  • Blank cards in case you want to add your own questions

⭐️There's also a digital version of Algebraic Expressions Truth or Dare - you can find it HERE.

I love all of the Truth or Dare games! This one is a little repetitive; the questions are basically just translating expressions and evaluating expressions but there is a good variety of expressions to work with that are structured differently

Write and evaluate numerical expressions involving whole-number exponents.
Write expressions that record operations with numbers and with letters standing for numbers. For example, express the calculation “Subtract 𝘺 from 5” as 5 - 𝘺.
Evaluate expressions at specific values of their variables. Include expressions that arise from formulas used in real-world problems. Perform arithmetic operations, including those involving whole-number exponents, in the conventional order when there are no parentheses to specify a particular order (Order of Operations). For example, use the formulas V = s³ and A = 6 s² to find the volume and surface area of a cube with sides of length s = 1/2.
