I created these activities for my 8th grade Algebra 1 students a few years ago, as I was not a fan of the book explanation. However, I have changed and edited them each time I've taught them. I am now an Algebra 2 teacher, and I use this same activity to refresh factoring for them.

Answer keys are provided for all assignments. Many assignments can be used as practice, homework, or extension activities. Assignments are created to provide a fun twist on rote practice, as students can solve a riddle, complete a puzzle, and more while learning. Multiple lesson assessments are included as well.

Interpret expressions that represent a quantity in terms of its context.
Interpret parts of an expression, such as terms, factors, and coefficients.
Use the structure of an expression to identify ways to rewrite it. For example, see 𝘹⁴ – 𝘺⁴ as (𝘹²)² – (𝘺²)², thus recognizing it as a difference of squares that can be factored as (𝘹² – 𝘺²)(𝘹² + 𝘺²).
