I am currently an Algebra 2 teacher in the Indian River School District in Delaware. I spent my first 7 years of teaching in Maryland, where I taught Math 6, Math 7, Math 8, and Algebra 1. In Maryland, I was fortunate enough to teach at a STEM school where I gained new knowledge of how to create Math lessons that cross over into the Science and Technology curriculums.

Understanding the Ecosystem Cut and Paste
This cut and paste activity creates a better understanding of the roles within an Ecosystem, such as producers, consumers, and decomposers. Students are directed to cut and paste the definition and four examples under each category. This download consists of three pages. The first page includes the directions for the activity with the cutouts. The second page is where students can tape/glue their selections. The third page is an answer key so the activity can be reviewed easily after completion

Halloween Riddle - Adding and Subtracting Integers
Riddle: What does a bird say at Halloween? A brief checkpoint or homework activity that I made to review adding and subtracting integers. Used to teach/review/practice with students about the rules of operations when subtracting positive and negative numbers. Quadratic Functions Vocabulary - Assessment
Great resource to assess student knowledge of vocabulary for quadratic functions. When teaching Algebra, characteristics of Quadratics are taught during Function Families, Transformations of Quadratics, and Quadratic Functions. This activity can be used to assess understanding but also to compare to previous functions taught. This is a four page document on Microsoft Word with an answer key included.

Synthetic Division Practice - Fun Riddle
A quick worksheet I made to help students with identifying a remainder when using Synthetic Division. I used this for my Algebra 2 class that consists of 10th - 12th graders. Multiplying Polynomials
A great and simple checkpoint to assess where students are regarding multiplying binomials. Problems begin with multiplying positive numbers only, and then including negative numbers, and then multiplying three binomials together. I teach my students to use Distributive Property or Area Model to solve problems. I emphasize Area Model, as it keeps their work organized and keeps the like terms at an angle. Coordinate Graphing - Avengers
I created these Avengers themed coordinate graphing activities as practice for my students with coordinates. This activity includes three different activities that vary in difficulties. Halloween Riddle - Solving Systems of Linear Equations

Avengers Assemble! Super Word Search

Algebra 2 Review Game - Jeopardy
I created this Algebra 2 Jeopardy game as a review for the mid-term exam this year. Comparing Fractions, Decimals, and Percents
This activity was created as an assessment for my 6th grade math students. Students cut out the boxes from the second page and glue them in the correct locations on the table (page1) so that each row (left to right) shows equivalence. This assessment also assesses students ability to recognize equivalent fractions. I personally used this activity as an exit ticket toward the beginning of the year, as it reviewed background knowledge for them, but it can be used in a variety of ways. Answer Key

Fractions Bingo
A great partner activity to review fractions. Students roll a dice and choose a fraction to color in from that column. Multiple cards can be used for multiple games such as 5 in a row, postage stamp, covered X, or full card. Colored pencils, crayons, or markers are suggested to be used with this activity, but are not required (can be done with pencil). I allowed students to use colors as they can be creative with their shading for each figure.

Operations of Rational Functions - Crossword Puzzle
Worksheet to review adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing rational functions. I assigned this to my Algebra 2 class as a practice assignment. Could also be used as a collaborative practice, homework assignment, or extra time-filler. I asked my students to complete the work on a separate sheet of paper and then we reviewed the answers as a class. I gave my students 45 minutes (11 problems total), then took 15 minutes to review for a total of approximately one hour.

Angles Vocabulary - Cut & Paste

Forms of Quadratics Foldable
A great activity to introduce the different forms of Quadratic Functions. I use this foldable at the beginning of my graphing unit every year to discuss the characteristics that each quadratic form and the comparisons between the three. TWO'S Spiderman Coloring Activity

Experience
I am currently an Algebra 2 teacher in the Indian River School District in Delaware. I spent my first 7 years of teaching in Maryland, where I taught Math 6, Math 7, Math 8, and Algebra 1. In Maryland, I was fortunate enough to teach at a STEM school where I gained new knowledge of how to create Math lessons that cross over into the Science and Technology curriculums.
Teaching style
Although Math is pretty cut and dry at times, I am a very hands on teacher, often incorporating kinesthetic activities into my lessons. Students of all ages (especially elementary and middle schoolers) need to get up and out of their seats. Adults don't enjoy being lectured to, so why would kids?
I plan my lessons to take about 5 to 7 minutes less than my class period time so that I can incorporate brain-breaks, especially in high school where class periods are much longer. My warmups are two to three questions, with at least one question being a review of old topics rather than just the lesson from the previous day.

I have always taught math although my undergrad degree is in Elementary Education. Now that I've taught higher levels of Math, I'm not sure I would ever teach Elementary School. I really enjoy making connections with older students, especially those who struggle with math.
Creating memorable, positive impacts on a child's education is what my job is about, and every day is just a new experience on that path.
