Are you looking for ways to make your Ancient Mesopotamia Unit more hands-on and engaging, while also teaching your students about the different groups of Mesopotamia? If so, this printable Mesopotamia Timeline Activity is the resource you need!
In this interactive timeline project, students will be constructing a timeline that features short reading passages, maps, and images about the Sumerians, Akkadians, Babylonians, Assyrians, Phoenicians, and Persians.
First, students will tape the three timeline handouts together to form a timeline that spans 4000 years. Then, they will read through six short reading passages about each group of people, and use the provided dates to place each passage in the correct location along the timeline. After they have glued down each of the reading passages, your students will place the maps and images in the correct spots, based upon the information described in the reading passage.
Not only will this activity give students the chance to physically build a timeline, but they will have fun doing it and create a learning tool that can be used throughout your unit!
Please note that this resource cannot be completed digitally. It is only a printable activity.
