Description

This comprehensive resource on Ancient Rome has various activities that begins with the geography of ancient Italy. It looks into what it was like to live in a Roman town, dives into the Punic Wars, covers Julius and Augustus Caesar, as well as the other emperors who took the throne, looks at how Christianity developed, talks about the decline and fall of one of the biggest empires to grace our planet, and more.

These Ancient Rome Activities on the history, culture, geography, and society of Rome are full of engaging activities, lesson plan suggestions, full-color examples, multiple foldable products, readings, 2-unit tests to choose from, a study guide, and 2 different review games to play before the big wrap up. One DIGITAL component exists now as well, with more to be added.

Consisting of 455 pages, split into 17 lessons, each of which takes 1-4 days to cover, this is a comprehensive unit where an additional textbook is not needed. This unit covers it all!

This Ancient Rome Activities Bundle includes everything below. To get a more thorough view, please read a description of what's included with each lesson below.

Lesson 1: Geography of Ancient Italy includes a map and 1 foldable with questions, cloze notes, 2-column notes, a rubric, checklist, study guide, and a test. It also includes the Rome Geography PDF file which guides your students through the geography of Italy.

Lesson 2: Ancient Rome Vocabulary includes multiple vocabulary strategy templates, a word list with definitions, flashcards with a holder, word puzzles, and a test.

Lesson 3: Ancient Rome Time Line includes a foldable timeline with a pocket.

Lesson 4: Romulus & Remus includes a reading and comprehension questions with answers.

Lesson 5: The Republic includes notes and 4 foldable items on the different pieces of the government, the judicial system, and the republic.

Lesson 6: Roman Class Structure Activity includes a foldable activity on the class structure, a 2-page reading to learn about ancient Rome, reading discussion questions, and a writing reflection piece. This lesson also has a DIGITAL component.

Lesson 7: Life in a Roman Town includes a PowerPoint show that parallels a multi-page reading on the daily life of the Romans, all of which coalesces into the creation of a mini-book foldable on the topic at hand.

Lesson 8: Relaxing with the Romans includes 2 foldable activities and another multi-page reading piece.

Lesson 9: Gods of Ancient Rome includes a black and white and color version of an accordion foldable on the main gods of the ancient polytheistic religious system. It also includes a reading, and a crossword and word search puzzles.

Lesson 10: The Punic Wars includes a 12-page mini-book foldable that charts its way through each of the Punic Wars and examines how the geography of the two empires changed throughout this time period. It includes a draw and guess game, cloze notes, and finishes with a writing reflection piece on the final punishment Rome bestowed on Carthage.

Lesson 11: Julius Caesar includes a multi-page reading on Julius Caesar’s life, 2 foldable activities, one on the first triumvirate he established and another on himself. There are also two different note-taking opportunities.

Lesson 12: Augustus Caesar has one foldable on the emperor with notes based on a multi-page reading, and a separate foldable activity on idioms from the Roman Empire. This allows you to complete some cross-curriculum work and tie social studies to language arts more specifically. Notes and details for the idioms are provided.

Lesson 13: Christianity in the Roman Empire has fill-in-the-blank notes that discuss the beginnings of Christianity and what that looked like to the Roman Empire. It also includes an optional writing reflection piece. These activities accompany a multi-page reading and a 5 W’s foldable activity.

Lesson 14: The Emperors lists virtually all of the Emperors to have taken the throne, as well as any notable accomplishments during their reign. It includes an emperor spinner that highlights twelve of the more notable emperors. Emperor cards for research on each of these twelve are also included (an answer key is included as well) and a report card assignment rounds out this lesson.

Lesson 15: Decline & Fall of the Roman Empire references inner and outer forces that tore at the empire, has a writing reflection piece based on these forces and a map to chart the two halves of the empire and the attacking barbarian tribes.

Lesson 16: Review Games includes a quiz show game similar to that of Jeopardy. A Bingo game is also included.

Lesson 17: Ancient Rome Study Guide & Exam includes a three-page study guide with an answer key included. For the exams, there is a 3-page multiple-choice exam and a 3-page comprehensive exam which includes matching, short answer, identification, essay, etc. Both exams are provided with an answer key.

In this bundle, you will receive mainly PDF files, but you will also get 3 PowerPoint files.
