"Task cards are always so great. I can use them in so many ways and this was a perfect match for the review I needed. "

Description

This set has 41 tasks cards over a variety of geometry topics, such as: complementary angles, supplementary angles, vertical angles, finding missing angles in triangles and quadrilaterals, finding angle measures of parallel lines cut by a transversal, and determining whether a triangle can be formed (based on side lengths or angle measures). One blank task card is included in case you want to add your own question.

To make it a bit more fun for your students, I have included a “treasure hunt”. For every card that students correctly complete, they get to pick a coordinate point on a grid. At the end of class, there is a “treasure map” that reveals the winning points!

Cards are provided in both color and black and white.

My 6th graders really liked this work, as it felt within reach and the type of problems felt like a puzzle. I will use this for years to come.

I was searching through my purchases and found this. I hate I did not find it before now. It would have been great practice and partner work.

Draw (freehand, with ruler and protractor, and with technology) geometric shapes with given conditions. Focus on constructing triangles from three measures of angles or sides, noticing when the conditions determine a unique triangle, more than one triangle, or no triangle.
Use facts about supplementary, complementary, vertical, and adjacent angles in a multi-step problem to write and solve simple equations for an unknown angle in a figure.
Use informal arguments to establish facts about the angle sum and exterior angle of triangles, about the angles created when parallel lines are cut by a transversal, and the angle-angle criterion for similarity of triangles. For example, arrange three copies of the same triangle so that the sum of the three angles appears to form a line, and give an argument in terms of transversals why this is so.
