This is an 18-part slide show demonstrating the basics of area model multiplication, applicable to 3rd-5th grade level math classes. After a brief introduction to the concept of rectangle area, the slides are broken into two sections:


  • Single digit x multi-digit multiplication
  • Multi-digit x multi-digit multiplication


It is recommended that students follow along with a notebook, grid paper, or grid-lined whiteboards to interact with the practice problems.
