This is a one-stop, no prep resource to ensure success with the area model for multi digit multiplication! Students will use the template boxes to know where to put each digit, and get to practice the steps for the box method for multiplication. With worksheets, task cards, google slides and video lessons, you will be completely prepared to help your students get structured, repeated practice with the area model.
This set includes color coded worksheets, fun task cards, a digital version for paperless practice AND 36 video lessons. I really thought of everything!
Here's what you'll get:
Worksheets: 6 worksheets, increasing in difficulty and color-coded and numbered to demonstrate that difficulty. Makes it very easy to keep track of!
Each worksheet has 6 questions, for a total of 36. Every question is color coded (each digit is color coded) which provides students with an extra scaffold. Before they come to you for help, they can use the color codes to check the step they're on. This should save you a LOT of time and help students be more independent while they are learning!
Questions 1-12 are 2 digits x 1 digit
Questions 13-18 are 3 digits x 1 digits
Questions 19-36 are 2 digits x 2 digits
Taskcards: 36 color-coded task cards, with the SAME QUESTIONS. This is just a different format if you prefer task cards for stations, independent work, etc. The task cards can be written on directly, or you can use the recording sheet.
Best feature: DIGITAL VERSION! The digital version is google slides. Even if you want to use the worksheets, you can pull up the digital version and your lesson is already done for you! OR, you can assign the digital version to students as independent practice, centers, stations, or homework. Students and teachers are truly set up for success here, because there is a video lesson for EVERY question. You also have the option to delete the videos.
Video Lessons: 36 video lessons: one for each question. You can play these in class during your lesson and have student follow along, or assign the digital version and kids can watch the videos themselves. The possibilities are endless but this should save you a TON of time!
This resource is very consistent and well-thought out, with the intention of saving you a lot of time and stress. These questions are very scaffolded, with the hope that students can practice with these and then be able to graduate to non-color-coded questions. This is truly a way for students to feel confident and empowered while learning a tough new skill.
