Description

This set of file folder games is a great way to practice beginning of the year Math Skills. This set of file folder games include counting 0-5 and 0-10, Number Identification 0-10 and 0-20, Sorting 2d Shapes, Same and Different, Completing Patterns, and Longer or Shorter. Students can work alone, with a partner, or an adult.

What’s Included:

  • Color Version - 38 pages
  • Black/White Version - 38 pages
  • File Folder Cover, Tab, and Direction Pieces
  • Each game has game pieces and 2 game templates - to glue onto the file folder.
  • The following games are included:
    • Counting 0-5 - Students will count the children on the bus and move the matching number to the bus.
    • Counting 0-10 - Students will count the rainbows on the notebook. They will find the pencil with the matching number and move it to the notebook.
    • Number Identification 0-10 - Students will look at the number on the paper and move the matching colored circle to the paper. Depending on student needs - this game includes a paper with a number of dots on it. Students will match the number to the set.
    • Number Identification 0-20 - Students will look at the number on the backpack and find the book with the same number. They will move the book to the backpack.
    • Shape Sort - Students will sort the buttons by shape.
    • Sorting Objects by Shape - Students will sort the objects by shape.
    • Complete the Pattern - Students will look at the shapes and complete the pattern.
    • Same or Different - Students will look at the 2 objects in the box and determine if they are the same or different. If they are the same, they will move the thumb up. If they are not the same, they will move the thumb down.
    • Longer or Shorter - Students will move an arrow to show which object is longer or shorter.

How to Use:

  • Choose which version to print (color or black/white).
  • I print the cover pieces and template pieces in color on regular white printer paper.
  • I cut the template close to the black line and glue into a file folder.
  • I print the game pieces on card stock.
  • I laminate the file folder and game pieces for durability. I keep the game pieces in a baggie or envelope.
  • My students will practice this game with an adult before it gets placed as an Early Finisher Activity.
  • File Folders can also be used during small groups, intervention, early finisher, morning work, or as an extra support to help struggling students.

When counting objects, say the number names in the standard order, pairing each object with one and only one number name and each number name with one and only one object.
Understand that the last number name said tells the number of objects counted. The number of objects is the same regardless of their arrangement or the order in which they were counted.
