Description

In this lesson students will work in engineering teams in the designing, building, and programming of an automated machine which solves a given problem. To provide students choice and to differentiate instruction, four different automated machine design projects are provided including:

  1. Elevator Project Machine Design Problem
  2. Recyclable Sorter Machine Design Problem
  3. Tic-Tac-Toe Machine Design Problem
  4. Clock Machine Design Problem

For each project there are student instructions which provide an introduction, problem/criteria/constraints, details for how to document their design in an engineering notebook, and a project rubric. Project instructions reference the use of the LEGO robotics building platform, but the lessons could be modified to work with other platforms like VEX.
