This easy-to-do experiment allows students to determine the amount of water and soap needed to create the tornado. The foldable helps students organize their thinking and record their results. Students learn about Sea Turtles in this vivid PowerPoint lesson. The lesson includes links to video clips to showcase sea turtles in their natural environment. After the lesson students pair up to play a turtle game as they practice addition skills by rolling two dice, adding the dots, and coloring in the answer. This game is designed similar to the old fashioned "Cootie" came. Students roll 2 dice (for addition practice), and attach colored snap cubes according to the sum of the 2 dice. There are 6 different snap cube sea animals: sea turtle, seahorse, fish, whale, octopus, and clam to choose from. Students play in groups of 2-4. Just print and add snap cubes and dice. Christmas sweater parties are popular and a lot of fun, so this Reading Room and STEAM/STEM project is in honor of National Ugly Sweater Day on December 17th. Where did this tradition begin? Research should not be a long drawn out process. Research should be fun, interesting, and easy to demonstrate what the student has learned. (It should also be easy to grade.)
