This Behavior Frequency Data Collection Chart is a flexible Google Sheets–based tool designed to support SPED case managers, behavior specialists, and intervention teams with efficient behavior tracking and IEP progress monitoring.

You will receive access to a Google Sheets template that can be copied for individual students or duplicated within the document to support ongoing data collection.

🎯 When to Use Frequency Data Collection

Frequency data collection involves counting the number of times a behavior occurs within a specific time period. This method is most appropriate when:

  • The behavior has a clear beginning and end
  • The behavior can be accurately counted
  • You need numerical data for IEP documentation or progress reports

⚠️ When NOT to Use Frequency Data

Frequency tracking is not recommended when:

  • The behavior occurs at an extremely high rate (e.g., repetitive pencil tapping)
  • The behavior lasts for extended periods of time (e.g., long tantrums or shutdowns)
