What is SPECIAL about this lesson?

My lessons follow a structure that supports students while also allowing them to discover and develop a deeper understanding for themselves. Each lesson starts with a launch where students answer scaffolded questions that lead to a summary of the key points of the lesson. Next, students engage in a "STEPS EXPLORATION" where they look over a fully worked out problem and describe in their own words how each step is being completed. They then have a chance to talk over their ideas and finalize them as a whole class before moving on. Next, students complete the "APPLICATION EXPLORATION" where they use their newly discovered steps to complete a new example problem independently, then in groups, and then with the whole class where they can check their work and reflect on their progress. From here, students will engage in Independent Practice before completing an exit ticket to assess their understanding. Check out the included scripted lesson plan to see questions to ask, timing suggestions, and more!
