This activity comes in both a printable and a digital option for distance learning using Google Slides. Students will sort cards into two categories classifying the graphs as either function or not a function. The activity can be used individually or in small groups. Also included in your purchase is an easy check form created with Google Forms. Functions included in this activity include linear, quadratic, square root, cubic, cube root, absolute value, rational, exponential, and logarithmic.

Extension:

To extend the use of this product, the cards can be used to

  • discuss/practice domain and range

Understand that a function is a rule that assigns to each input exactly one output. The graph of a function is the set of ordered pairs consisting of an input and the corresponding output.
Understand that a function from one set (called the domain) to another set (called the range) assigns to each element of the domain exactly one element of the range. If 𝘧 is a function and 𝘹 is an element of its domain, then 𝘧(𝘹) denotes the output of 𝘧 corresponding to the input 𝘹. The graph of 𝘧 is the graph of the equation 𝘺 = 𝘧(𝘹).
