Description

Do you want your students to dig deeper into the characters in the novels or stories they read? Do you want them to connect with them on another level? Then the Character Journal Project is for you (and your students)!

With this project, students will keep a character journal over the course of a novel or story that they read. They will take notes on their character traits, and then write journal entries from the point of view of the character. They will essentially pretend to "be" the character and reflect on the events through their eyes. Through this project they are challenged to use the thoughts and feelings of the character to write their entries that will show their emotions.

This resource includes guidelines & instructions for the students to follow, a character journal schedule, a self-evaluation chart, and a final character journal rubric. This resource can be used with any text.
