Description

This unit gives students a standards-based first-look at understanding American Indian culture, heritage, and history! I've included a variety of common-core aligned activities and texts that will certainly be a wonderful addition to any Social Studies curriculum!

FEATURES

• Six short reading passages perfect for understanding Native American culture.

• Each passage comes with a short, fun assessment. Students will inference, recall information, and find evidence in the texts!

Who are Native Americans? - Students will learn what it means to be indigenous and understand who Native American people are!

Native American Homes - Students will learn that different tribes had different types of homes - not all Native Americans lived in tipis!

Native American Tribes - Students will learn that there are many, many different tribes, and each tribe has their own culture and traditions that should be respected!

The Lakota Tribe - Students will get a focused look at one tribe and learn what makes the Lakota people unique!

Native Americans Today - Students will learn that Native Americans today aren’t so different from them!

Native American Headdresses - Students will learn that this famous headwear is important to Plains Tribes and should be treated with respect!
