Description

Teach your students the basics of (unplugged) coding, computer science, and STEM with this product. Student groups use coding cards to program the Monkey to get to the Tree on five different game boards, while following the rules of each game (dance, jump, spin, pick up bananas).

Display the game board on your smart board and go over the rules for the specific game board. Students will write the code in groups using the coding cards, and bring it to the teacher when finished. The teacher is the Monkey on the life size game board, and will follow the code the students have written. If students make a mistake, the teacher says, "Bug in the system!" and students go back to rewrite their code by rearranging their coding cards.

This is a hands on product that can be used in 1st-4th grade classes.

Answer keys included for each game board. No coding experience necessary (by teachers or students!)

Included:

-directions on how to implement in your classroom (how to use the coding cards, a glossary of what each card means, and how to use the game boards).

-5 life-size game boards and the large pieces you'll need to print (game board tiles, Monkey starting spot, Tree ending spot, and bananas to pick up).

-5 game boards with different rules to display on your smart board for students to reference as they work on writing a code.

-answer keys with multiple answer options, for each game board.

-25 pages of coding cards and folders for each group (38 cards and 6 folders per group). Cards are available in 6 different colors, plus a black outline.
