Unit 6 of 8 in a semester-long Computer Science course in Python. Activities level for students of different levels of comfort and ability. This unit introduces students to functions, including concepts such as refactoring, scope, parameters, and value-returning functions.

This unit can be adapted to run for two to three weeks, depending on students' pace of work and topics you choose to cover.

This course can be used on its own or following Cookies and Bytes' Middle School Computer Science course. I would recommend this course for beginner or intermediate coders in 8th grade and up, or for 7th-grade students who have taken Middle School Computer Science. The lesson plans are designed to be accessible to teachers with limited coding knowledge.
