This resource includes 20 activity sheets total, with 5 editable versions that allow teachers to create endless variations tailored to their classroom needs. Answer keys provided also! Supplements Frog Street and Children's Learning Institute (CLI) curriculums.

Students practice counting objects, matching numbers to a color key, and coloring accurately—a hands-on way to build one-to-one correspondence, number recognition, and subitizing skills. The variety of sheets makes it easy to differentiate for different levels of learners, from students just beginning to count to those ready to recognize quantities at a glance.

Teachers can use this product in multiple ways: as independent seatwork, small-group guided practice, math centers, morning work, or even as take-home practice. The editable color key make it especially versatile, giving educators unlimited flexibility to extend lessons or adapt for specific objectives.

Aligned with Common Core State Standards and the Texas Pre-K Guidelines, these activities support essential early math domains, including counting and cardinality, number sense, and problem-solving skills. They also strengthen fine motor skills through coloring, while reinforcing careful listening and following directions.

  • Fine motor skills – strengthening hand-eye coordination through coloring
  • Listening and following directions – practicing attention to multi-step instructions
  • Early problem-solving – deciding how to match, count, and color correctly
  • Foundational number sense – building understanding of quantity, order, and relationships between numbers and objects

Product Uses:

  • Whole-group instruction – model counting, matching, and coloring together to introduce the concept
  • Guided practice – work through examples with teacher support, reinforcing correct counting and matching
  • Small-group intervention – provide targeted support for students who need extra practice with number sense
  • Independent practice – allow students to apply skills on their own, building confidence and independence
  • Math centers – include as a hands-on, low-prep activity station during rotations
  • Assessment tool – use completed sheets to check for mastery in counting, number recognition, and subitizing skills
  • Extension activities – challenge students to subitize or work in pairs to strengthen collaboration and quick recall
