Description
This product contains guided notes and a worksheet on Common Core standards G.GPE 4&7. The first two problems on the guided notes have students find the perimeter of polygons given its vertices. The next three problems have students calculate the area of polygons given its vertices (right triangles, squares, and rectangles only). The last 4 problems on the notes give students more vertices and have them name the specific type of polygon formed by those vertices. There are 2 problems for students to do on their own at the end of notes for a quick assessment. The worksheet contains 8 problems. Answer key included! I recommend giving students graph paper to help them solve the problems.

CCSSHSG-GPE.B.4
Use coordinates to prove simple geometric theorems algebraically. For example, prove or disprove that a figure defined by four given points in the coordinate plane is a rectangle; prove or disprove that the point (1, √3) lies on the circle centered at the origin and containing the point (0, 2).
CCSSHSG-GPE.B.7
Use coordinates to compute perimeters of polygons and areas of triangles and rectangles, e.g., using the distance formula.
