Description
Administer this formative assessment to your students to address their learning needs, form guided math groups, and ensure you are teaching all the common core math standards!
This file contains a comprehensive assessment that, with a few common classroom tools such as manipulatives and a whiteboard, can quickly be used to gauge a student's understanding of key math principles. This assessment is designed to be administered multiple times during the year (such as at the beginning of the year, then after each quarter or trimester) to assess student progress. Each question provides space for a score during that assessment period, as well as teacher notes about student strategy use, misconceptions, and strengths.
All first grade Common Core math standards are addressed in this assessment. A Class Assessment Data table is provided for each area (Operations and Algebraic Thinking, Numbers and Operations in Base Ten, Measurement and Data, and Geometry) to gather data for informing decision-making about guided math groups and interventions for struggling students.
Score students according to district or school guidelines, or your own scoring preferences. You may wish to score students on a 1-4 scale (1 = Below Basic, 2 = Basic, 3 = Meets, 4 = Exceeds).
Please use for one classroom only.
Thank you!
