This free community helpers matching pinwheel activity is a fun, interactive way to introduce your students to the many helpers in their communities.

Students will be able to identify, match and clip these community helpers: teacher, builder, firefighter, nurse, dentist, doctor, farmer, chef, police officer, sanitation worker, crossing guard, grocery store worker, baker, mechanic and mail carrier.

This Fine Motor Activity is Great For:

  • PK-2 elementary school
  • Students with disabilities
  • Autism classrooms (grade clusters K-2 & 3-5)
  • ESL, EFL, ELL, ELD
  • Students with language impairments
  • Reluctant readers and writers
  • Mixed grade classrooms.
  • At-risk kids

Laminate for durability and use it as a fun extended activity to complement your lessons on community workers. These are great for workstation tasks, literacy centers, independent work, and small group work on identification and matching exercises.

This activity is part of the Community Helpers - Who Are They? Social Studies Worksheets and the Community Helpers Bundle. You may want to purchase these for a complete body of work for your community helpers unit plan. You may also be interested in a math activity that goes along with the community workers theme, Community Helpers Math Activities- Number Concepts to 10 and a Community Helpers Math Sequence Puzzles for early learners. I laminated and assembled the activity and it was put on our practical life shelf. This was great for our community’s helpers unit and also great pincer grasp practice with the clothes pins!

This was a great activity for the children to match the community helper and the understanding of what that professional looks like (uniforms, etc.)
