Description

A set of 8 worksheets and a quiz on comparing & ordering numbers, designed for third grade level.

Can be used in tutoring or as a resource with specific students who need more focused practice on the concept. May be used to quickly review concept or help student re-learn it. I recommend using different pages on different days so the student has to move information in and out of memory more.

I created this to use with my tutoring students; if they're having difficulty with comparing and ordering numbers, these worksheets always give them the practice they need to become successful with the concept!

I like the content of these pages, but there is a lot of writing, which can be overwhelming for Gr. 3 students. I think they would work very well for distance or independent work. I use them more for extension work than a universal handout with my class.

The Individualized Math worksheets were designed for use in tutoring, not necessarily as a universal handout, though many teachers do of course use them that way, as they are often well-suited for review or practice of concepts. There actually is not all that much writing on most of the pages, as only one page requires writing words at all (at most three words for 12 problems each), and the most non-word writing page is the final page (before the quiz) of ordering lists of numbers, which involves 9 lists of five numbers each, with a total of about 180 digits on that page. The others have far less writing required, and shouldn't have been too difficult for them. I'm presuming it was pages 2 or 8 that felt overwhelming to them? As tutoring worksheets, I mostly often use them with students who are in much older grades but working at lower grade level (such as 4th, 5th, or 6th graders). In my current class (a one-room school with students in 1st through 8th grade - I work with half the grades at a time for an hour each), the students on this level right now range from 4th to 6th graders. I've never had a student who's actually *at* 3rd grade level in math have any trouble with the writing; most do 3-4 pages in an hour (all on different topics), one or two of which is usually as much writing/work as this. However, I can imagine that students in an actual third grade classroom (being therefore younger) may have weaker motor skills, particularly if they've spent any amount of time in the past several years with remote learning (relying heavily on computer screens) instead of in-person (relying far more on pencil-and-paper work), so it may be more challenging for them. I don't know your exact situation, but that seems a likely explanation.
