Description

Comparing fractions worksheets are more engaging when they're self-checking color by number sheets!

  • On these comparing fractions color by number worksheets, students answer 20 questions, find the solution number (fraction) on the coloring page/section and then color.
  • Print and digital versions are included.

Check out the Preview and video demo above to see what's included (the video refers to the ORIGINAL version) and how the digital version works (students will need to know how to use the "Fill color" feature).

The comparing fractions problems require students to:

  • Compare 2 fractions with unlike denominators, to choose the larger or smaller fraction
  • Compare 3 fractions with unlike denominators, to choose the largest or smallest fraction
  • Compare fractions in the context of word problems

This comparing fractions resource download is a zip file with 2 different PDFs:

  1. An UPDATED version
  2. The original version of this resource

UPDATED Comparing Fractions print and digital resource has:

1) Two print versions:

Version A

  • Problem sheet with 20 questions
  • Coloring sheet

Version B

  • Problem sheet with 20 questions (DIFFERENT 20 questions from Version A)
  • Coloring sheet: different from Version A (less detailed)

2) Slides version

  • Same problems as and mostly same pattern/coloring as print Version B
  • Students type their answers in the answer box
  • Students use the ‘Fill color’ bucket to color the shapes
  • Questions are not editable (they are in the background) but the shapes and numbers in the pattern ARE movable.
  • Link to Slides is in the PDF download.

3) Two coloring pages with no numbers, so students can color the pattern their own way, for fun:-)

ORIGINAL Comparing Fractions resource: SAME questions for all versions (A, B, and digital).

  • This can be used if you’d prefer to have all students working on the same problems, but give them the options of easier or more complex coloring for the print version.
  • The digital version is exactly the same as in the updated version

Compare two fractions with different numerators and different denominators, e.g., by creating common denominators or numerators, or by comparing to a benchmark fraction such as 1/2. Recognize that comparisons are valid only when the two fractions refer to the same whole. Record the results of comparisons with symbols >, =, or <, and justify the conclusions, e.g., by using a visual fraction model.
