This concise, to the point and no-prep comparing random samples lesson is a great way to teach and introduce comparing data in different forms. There is a set of box plots, a set of dot plots, and one bar graph of random samples where students practice interpreting & comparing the data.

These notes get straight to the point of the skill being taught, which I have found is imperative for the attention span of middle schoolers! They are also a great tool for students to refer back to.

The Comparing Random Samples Guided Notes Lesson was an excellent resource for introducing and reinforcing the concept of random samples in my classroom.
