Description
If you need a practical way to help students expand and combine sentences, this ink-friendly set of 36 task cards AND seven digital pages might just be what you are looking to use. This resource will provide a way for students to get up and move to get a break from their devices.
Students read the given sentences and then combine the sentences from each task card into one sentence on recording sheets. I added a page for reluctant writers to determine whether they know how to use the conjunctions by writing yes or no for 10 sentences. This could be used as an informal assessment as well. Eight coordinating and subordinating conjunctions are incorporated and there is a page to display these conjunctions. ANSWER KEYS ARE INCLUDED.
This resource works well for students as a review or as a scaffold to what you have already taught them about compound sentence structure.
There are seven DIGITAL PAGES with NO PREP ready to assign to student devices. If you purchase open the green view files tab to get access to both the PDF and digital Easel pages. You can choose the pages for your student's devices. Simply go to edit pages and remove the ones you wish to remove for any given assignment. If you wish to change your selections you can revert back to the original pages and choose again. When you click the "assign" tab you will get a code for your students' devices.
Also I included core standards and ESL Insights.
Copy on colored paper or card stock if desired, laminate, and add my product cover to a pocket folder or large envelope and you have an instant writing center.
This activity will work well with whole class, tutoring small groups, cooperative groups, or even independently; and is especially helpful as a scaffold to compliment your good teaching on the subject of sentence structure and as a support to district approved resources. I hope you find this product helpful. The digital pages can be assigned all together or separately. Just edit the pages you want to use at a time.
