Description

Get your students involved in designing your next concert program

This is a great way to get your kids thinking about the music they are performing. Putting together a concert program is not one of my most cherished activities so I let my students help me out. Most of my students are much more creative and better artists than I am and design beautiful concert programs. Plus, it gets them thinking about and realizing that I don't just randomly choose music for them to perform. They get to be "the teacher" and see what they are supposed to learn with each piece and what our audience should be able to hear what we have learned. Plus it gives you great insight as the director as to what they are actually taking away from each piece and whether what you intended to teach is actually being learned!

I usually give the students a week to complete the concert program but you can decide how much time is needed based on your own student needs and how often you see your ensembles.

Works as a great emergency substitute project as well!
