Description
The “Counting On” strategy is introduced and developed in the primary grades. Students need many opportunities to practice using the strategy in order to master it. In this product, there are t-shirts from numbers 0 – 20.
Simply print and laminate. You can use them as part of a whole group lesson by putting a magnet on the back and sticking them on the board or you can use real clothes pins and pin them up on a clothesline. Show a certain number of shirts in order. Ask students to help you “count on” by adding shirts to the line to make 10 or 20. This can be used in a small group setting as well. Once you have introduced it, put it at a math center. Students can lay the shirts on the floor to help them solve “counting on” worksheets which are included in this product.
You can also use it as a giant number line for addition or subtraction problems or as an activity counting clothespins and putting the correct number with the matching shirt.
**Please note: This product is also available in the Counting On Addition Strategy Activities BUNDLE.
