This mathematical inquiry based project relates a range of student learning to an authentic context.
In the instruction sheet, I have provided two copies:
One has included topics listed (fractions, decimals, basic facts, addition and subtraction strategies, place value, measurement, geometry etc) for your students to select from.
The other is blank, allowing you to write in the topics you would like your students to focus on.
Throughout the four tasks, students will brainstorm, design and create a maths-based board game with the aim of strengthening others maths skills.
Each task has student instructions, reflection questions and a student checklist.
Use as a base to inspire other problems, or use as is. This task is group based and would be covered over a week dependent upon your students; it can be provided as an independent project too. I created this for my GATE 6th Grade students.
