Empty Plates: Exploring Food Insecurity engages students in the real-world issue of food insecurity. In this unit, students will examine the social, economic, and environmental factors that contribute to food scarcity, both in Canada and globally. They will also explore how food insecurity affects health and quality of life. The goal is to equip students with the knowledge and skills to take meaningful action, whether through raising awareness or contributing to solutions. While this unit is tailored for the Grade 12 HFA4U course in Ontario, it can be adapted to fit any curriculum with a focus on social justice and community engagement.
