Description

How can you ensure that students are reviewing previously taught math skills without using a lot of precious class time or adding more to your workload? Daily math review! This low-prep resource is a perfect way to easily have students review number sense during your place value unit and throughout the school year.

This resource includes 30 questions covering number sense concepts for whole numbers (up to 9 digits).

They are written like word problems, with several problems incorporating charts or pictures.

What Skills Are Covered?

  • reading and writing numbers in standard, word, and expanded form
  • identifying the place and value of digits in a number
  • comparing numbers
  • ordering numbers (up to 4 numbers)
  • rounding numbers

How Can I Use This?

  • use one problem a day as a quick warm-up or exit ticket
  • print and solve in math interactive notebooks
  • print and use like a set of task cards for a small group/whole class review activity
  • pull specific questions to use with students who need extra practice

What's Included?

  • 30 colorful slides with one question each
  • 30 printer-friendly pages with black-and-white questions (printed multiple questions per page to save paper)
  • student recording sheet
  • answer key
  • suggestions for preparation and use

This resource supports Virginia Math SOL 4.1, but will work in any classroom.

I used the Place Value Word Problems as part of our daily math warm-up routine in my 2nd–5th grade special education classroom for students with mild intellectual disabilities. It was a great way to reinforce number sense and problem-solving skills in a consistent and accessible format.
