Description

This journal gives space for all young writer to practice the different genre types (narrative, opinion, and informational writing as well as writing to review the sounds students have learned. Student write a narrative with "over the weekend I I ___" prompts. Then opinion writing with a "my favorite _____" topic, and lastly informative writing about a topic they may have learned about in science like "on a rainy day I can ____". Each week also asks students to review 2 letter sounds learned and write words and sentences that begin with that letter. The alphabet is on each page as a reminder and in each book there is a list of high frequency words to support students as well as a checklist so the can begin to edit their own work. (See week 1 for a free sample.)
