Description

This bundle includes everything you need to teach your students how to decompose fractions into a sum of unit and non-unit fractions. The digital and printable activities can be used in your lesson and math centers! The PowerPoint also extends to decomposing improper fractions into whole numbers and fractions, and then mixed numbers.

This bundle includes:

✅ Editable PowerPoint Lesson (mini-lesson with fraction tiles)

✅ 3 Practice Worksheets (for guided practice, homework, or assessments)

✅ 1 Set of Task Cards (32 questions for small group instruction and/or math workshop)

✅ 1 Set of Boom Cards (20 questions for independent practice, math centers, homework, whole group instruction, or assessments)

✅ 3 Printable and Digital Bump Games (for math centers and review games)

Boom Cards:

Boom Cards are self-checking, meaning students receive immediate feedback after each question. That is their WOW factor! If students need extra practice before a test, send them a Boom Card deck. I've had parents thank me for the extra help and tell me how helpful Boom Cards were for them too!

They are also a NO PREP resource. Copy and paste a link to Google Classroom, Schoology, Boom Learning, or whatever online platform you use. That is about as low prep as it gets!

Ideas for use:

✦ Independent math center

✦ Homework assignment

✦ Whole group instruction

✦ Warm-up questions

✦ Choice board activity

Please note: Boom Cards can be used through a FREE or paid account, depending on what features you would like access to.

Task Cards
Task cards can be for:

✦ Small group instruction

✦ Exit tickets

✦ Whole group review

✦ Game questions

✦ Gallery walks

✦ Quiz-quiz-trade

Understand a fraction 𝘢/𝘣 with 𝘢 > 1 as a sum of fractions 1/𝘣.
Decompose a fraction into a sum of fractions with the same denominator in more than one way, recording each decomposition by an equation. Justify decompositions, e.g., by using a visual fraction model. Examples: 3/8 = 1/8 + 1/8 + 1/8; 3/8 = 1/8 + 2/8; 2 1/8 = 1 + 1 + 1/8 = 8/8 + 8/8 + 1/8.
Understand a fraction 𝘢/𝘣 as a multiple of 1/𝘣. For example, use a visual fraction model to represent 5/4 as the product 5 × (1/4), recording the conclusion by the equation 5/4 = 5 × (1/4).
