Description

Students will love creating their own scale drawing of a survival arena. This project also incorporates area, perimeter, scale drawings, percents, and even a little bit of probability! Students will create an arena according to a list of specifications that they must follow. This project is a great way to keep kids engaged!

This resource includes a project description, an Arena Proposal Worksheet for students to show their work, a helpful hints page to help students with some of the tricky parts of this project, a grading rubric, and a sample project. The Teacher’s Guide will give you great ideas for how to implement this awesome project!

I like it; it was just harder for kids who haven't read Hunger Games. Next time I will remove all specific references to the novel to keep it general.

This was so fun! I loved this project. I also loved reading the first couple chapters in math class. Students were begging to keep working on it so that they could continue listening to the story. Their projects were so fun and creative.

Yes...this is my FAVORITE end of the year project! I love it...glad you did too. I often pair up with my team science teacher. She has the kids create "muttations", and then they put them in the arenas they make for me. It's awesome!
