TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught 7th grade math for almost 20 years, and I know that I have the best job in the world. I also sponsor the Math Club and the Coding Club at my school.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I like to keep my students actively involved in class, with lots of classroom discussions and cooperative learning. I feel like the most important thing I can do is help students not learn rote procedures, but really make sense of math.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

2014 Auburn Washburn Secondary Teacher of the Year; 2014 Kansas Teacher of the Year Semi-Finalist; 2015 Outstanding Teacher Award from Kansas Society of Professional Engineers; 2016 Kansas Master Teacher

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Bachelor of Education from Washburn University and Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Washburn University Google Level 1 Certification 2018

I grew up always wanting to be a teacher, and now I am! When I'm not at school, I enjoy reading, watching movies and playing games with my family.
