Description
Digitally practice Algebra by simplifying radicals that are square roots with perfect square and prime factor methods. This math activity is engaging, color-changing, self-checking work! You can allow students to practice both methods, or the method of your choice. The Google Sheets step-by-step problems allow students to independently practice and at the same time confidently practice. The activity is guided and self-grading, while providing immediate feedback. For the perfect square method, students are guided through how to simplify if they do not select the greatest perfect square.

What did they have to say?
I tested it out on my Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 students, and they LOVED it!
- “I like doing it this way because, it helps me to see how to set the different parts of the problem up.”
- “It helps me to see when I made a mistake, right when it happens, instead of finding out at the very end.”
- “When it turned red, it made me stop and think more about how to fix it.”
- “I understand my mistakes more once I figure out how to fix them.”
- “It made me want to keep trying until I see all green.”
- “I felt smarter once I finally figured it out”
- “I wish we did this more, it helps.”
How is it self checking?
Well, students answer one question at a time, and as they do, the box changes color. IF the box turns red, then students know to re-think and adjust their answer.
