Description

If you want to see an example of the format of this lesson, I have provided a free lesson teaching the /e/ sound in my store.

If you would like more worksheets on the "ee" digraph, please find them here

*Please read through this description and my teaching notes on the PowerPoint to ensure optimal success.

This phonics lesson introduces the /ee/ sound through a PowerPoint presentation and video, accompanied by a PDF printout containing teacher notes and worksheets.

The lesson covers the following topics:

  • Introducing the sound
  • Mouth formation for sound production
  • Writing lowercase letters
  • Items including the focus sound
  • Skill: Segmenting simple word/s
  • Skill: Blending simple word/s
  • Skill: Sentence Building
  • Ideas for consolidating learning with independent activities
  • Worksheet for students to consolidate their learning

Teacher instructions and guidance are provided in the notes section.

Please note that this material is designed to be used with any phonics program and does not include program-specific instructions. Please incorporate additional multisensory tools such as sound actions, songs, stories, and handwriting techniques as needed.

It is recommended to teach a maximum of two skills in each phonics lesson, such as initial sounds and segmenting. You can add or delete slides to cater to your specific needs and abilities. As the sound lessons progress, I will gradually introduce blending, segmenting, phoneme substitution, and deletion, and other skills alongside the introduction of new sounds. Although I might include instructions for more than two skills, it's up to you to decide which skills you want to focus on for each lesson. I will follow a common pattern for teaching sounds and will incorporate more skills in the upcoming lessons and the students learn more sounds and develop their "sound bank."

You may choose to break this lesson up into two sessions.
