Description

Based on my best seller. I noticed that my 4-5th grade students needed some more experience with multiplication arrays or area models, and since I had a wide range of learners I created this set of 32 area model Google ready task cards to start at a beginning level and then slowly working up to an advanced level so I could have different students start at different places. The cards introduce solving multiplication problems by building arrays with Base Ten Blocks, from one digit x one digit to two digits x two digits.

Students can answer directly onto the Google slide or write down their answers on the included recording sheet.

Google Ready Array Multiplication Task Cards Perseverance Required! 4.NBT.5

What is included?

A PDF file with instructions to set up a free google account and how to copy the files into your google drive.

  • A page with links to the 32 task cards in google slides
  • 2 page answer key
  • 3 pages of student answer sheets
  • 2 pages of student tracking sheets
  • 1 page of hundred blocks for use to copy/cut/laminate in case you don’t have base ten blocks

Example task:

Advanced level card - Using at least one hundred block, draw the array that would give you the product of 221?

Note:

Students should use Base Ten Blocks though it isn’t necessary. I do have a printable if needed. Also these require some major thinking, so make sure your students have time, and maybe can work together, even allow them to use a calculator.

I used this for small groups to practice multiplication. It was challenging enough for my high kids but also a good tool to scaffold for my lower kiddos. Thank you for the resource.
