Understanding Place Value for Google Classroom

45 Slides of Place Value Practice

  • Students click and drag ones pieces to make a ten
  • Students click and drag the ones pieces onto a ten and type how many ones remain
  • Students type how many tens and ones are in a given number (example: how many tens and ones does the number 23 have?)
  • Students type how many tens are in (10,20,30,40,50)
  • Students type the the number represented by place value blocks

This Digital Resource can be used as-

  • Google Slides

  • Use a PowerPoint
  • Assign via other digital means

Understanding Place Value

Understand that the two digits of a two-digit number represent amounts of tens and ones. Understand the following as special cases:

CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.1.NBT.B.2.A

10 can be thought of as a bundle of ten ones — called a "ten."

CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.1.NBT.B.2.B

The numbers from 11 to 19 are composed of a ten and one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, or nine ones.

CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.1.NBT.B.2.C

The numbers 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90 refer to one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, or nine tens (and 0 ones).
