Description

This Double Digit Homework Practice packet is a resource for providing students with the practice of solving equations and asking them to show their work. I like using these packet pages for homework, but they can of course be used for classwork practice as well. The simple format of each worksheet allows students to understand what is expected of them and doesn’t require me to review the directions every time I give them a new one.

In learning to do double digit math problems through the lens of Common Core, students are being asked to show and/or explain how they solve a problem. Each worksheet asks students to show two ways to solve a problem. This will of course correspond to how you are teaching them to solve problems, but I’ve included a strategy sheet that you might find helpful. The strategies that our first-grade team is focusing on are decomposing, sticks (tens) and dots (ones), and the number line, so the strategy sheet mirrors these strategies.

Includes

This set includes a strategy sheet and 10 practice sheets. The practice sheets include two addition and two subtraction double digit equations. The subtraction equations are all base ten types of equations, for example: 60 – 30.

Student Engagement

These double-digit math practice pages are exciting and engaging. They are meant to keep students interested and help reinforce the learning of math strategies. They are perfect for building confidence in addition and subtraction. This resource turns homework into a hands-on learning experience that keeps students motivated and eager to practice their math skills.
