This packet has become one of my favorites to use with kids in grades 6-12. I have structured multiple activities to scaffold students through a full essay writing process from words, to thinking, to annotations, to outlines, to opinion formation, to actual writing components, and even editing! It's particularly helpful to teach students how to plan out their thoughts, work on keyword development, create argumentative claims and thesis statements and ultimately to become more aware of the art of paragraph and essay writing.

I have used this with students during 1-on-1 tutoring, with full class remedial writing sessions, and with English Language Learners.
