In this puzzle, students will match fraction equations. There is one puzzle with two different levels. One version has stars around the edge (for struggling students) and the other version has problems with no stars around the edges. Make sure these problems are appropriate for your students - download the preview and look at the thumbnails to see problem examples.

This activity can be completed individually or in pairs. Students will cut out each square to match the answers. Completed puzzles could be glued onto colored paper or into an interactive notebook.

This is also included in my 4th Grade Fraction Operations Activity Bundle.

Decompose a fraction into a sum of fractions with the same denominator in more than one way, recording each decomposition by an equation. Justify decompositions, e.g., by using a visual fraction model. Examples: 3/8 = 1/8 + 1/8 + 1/8; 3/8 = 1/8 + 2/8; 2 1/8 = 1 + 1 + 1/8 = 8/8 + 8/8 + 1/8.
