HOW DOES IT WORK?
Each task card has a multiplication problem that needs to be solved at the top. Then, the problem is solved. The answer at the bottom of the card shows what the person thinks the product is. However, each time a problem is solved, there is a mistake. Students need to find the mistake, explain what was done incorrectly, and then solve it themselves. This practice will help them identify their own mistakes as they go back and check their work.
TYPES OF MULTIPLICATION
There are 3 types of multiplication addressed in these task cards:
- Lattice (Cards 1-15)
- Expanded Form (Cards 16-30)
- Standard Algorithm (Cards 31-45)
Use one, two, or all three types depending on what your students need!
DIFFERENTIATION
In these task cards, you will find varying levels of difficulty:
- Two-digit by one-digit (62 x 9)
- Two-digit by two-digit (24 x 54)
- Three-digit by one-digit (259 x 8)
- Four-digit by one-digit (5,295 x 5)
- Three-digit by two-digit (644 x 95)
These task cards are sure to build critical thinking skills with your students and help them realize how easy it is to make a simple mistake (as well as the value of checking their work!)
