Description
I wrote this lab to follow the Microevolution Simulation Lab, but it can stand alone also. Students cut out beetles and other items to simulate the process of speciation. Students make a scenario out of construction paper where they can manipulate the beetles to show isolation, natural selection, etc. My students love this and I must say that a great majority of them got A's on their evolution test. See my Evolution test!

We enjoyed this low-tech lab very much. It was nice to take a break from the computer and do a hands-on activity
Great!
Thanks!

Good quick activity. Great for review.
Thank you. Assisted with student understanding.
This was very helpful for my students to understand macroevolution.
Such a hard concept for the students to get, but with this lab it will become clear
