Description

Teach about specific executive functioning skills with this advanced workbook, including: planning, organization, time management, task initiation, working memory, metacognition, self-control, attention, flexible thinking, and perseverance. Detailed information, compensatory strategies, examples, practice, and meaningful activities are included for every executive functioning skill. With over 130 pages, you will have everything you need to teach these skills thoroughly! These are great materials to use with middle and high school students.

Why Teach Executive Functioning Skills?

Executive functioning skills are some of the most important building blocks for academic, social, and personal success. They include our ability to plan, organize, start tasks, manage time, problem-solve through challenges, and persevere to meet our goals.

Ultimately, these are skills that all learners can learn about, build, and strengthen with practice. By teaching self-awareness about the skills and compensatory strategies, we can help learners build them over time.

How to Use

Use this workbook right alongside learners while discussing, modeling, and practicing skills together. The idea is to help students become strategic learners and fill their toolboxes with strategies they can use in school and beyond. Because it is a workbook, it is no prep for the educator.

Integrating Student Curriculum

Several of the activities encourage students to think about their own current curriculum, classes, homework, and projects. This is to help students generalize skills and make them more meaningful for each learner.

Digital and Print Versions

Digital Version Included: Revised to include a digital version for Google Slides. To access the digital online version, use the "Digital Directions." Click the link and choose "copy" to get your own paper-free document that students can use on computers or tablets. Text boxes have already been added to make it easier for you and your learners!

A printable version is also included, which can be printed as worksheets or put together as a workbook.

This has helped in my classroom SO MUCH! My middle schoolers are really struggling with executive functioning and I was able to chunk this into smaller, more manageable assignments for them. It works for focused time. It works for subs! Wish I had found it sooner!

All of the students in my caseload have self help goals for executive functioning. This brought an excellent level of introspection and gave them an explanation for executive functioning and what the skills are. This was like a light bulb went off.
