Engage Students in Hands-On Blood Flow Exploration with the Orbeez Lab!

Transform your classroom into a dynamic research environment with the Exploring Blood Flow Lab. This engaging activity challenges students to simulate blood flow using Orbeez, fostering a deeper understanding of its properties.

Students will fill out key scientific components, including defining the objective, formulating a research question and developing their own hypotheses about which blood vessel (tube) will have the fastest completion time.

Through a structured procedure and readily available materials, students will directly observe how different vessel sizes impact flow rate. This lab not only reinforces scientific methodology but also makes complex physiological concepts accessible and exciting. My students had a blast completing this lab!

Materials:

  • Orbeez (water beads)
  • Clear tubing (to represent blood vessels)
  • Water
  • Food Coloring (optional)
