Use a short list of words (EXPOSED, LIABLE, OPEN, PRONE, SENSITIVE, SUBJECT, SUSCEPTIBLE) with similar denotation (being by nature or through circumstances likely to experience something adverse) to give students a round of practicing the life-long skill of identifying the nuance of connotation from context clues and patterns between etymologically related words, rather than forcing vocabulary building through rote memorization that lasts only until the next test.
