Description
Perfect for test or exam review, this set includes 12 applied algebraic (exponential) models task cards and 4 blank cards. A recording sheet and answer guide are also included. Each card is individually coded, making it easy to quickly gauge topic and level, particularly if you are combining these with other task cards in the series. Difficulty levels range from Level 1 - Very Easy, to Level 4 - Challenging.
Concepts addressed in this activity:
- Rearranging and solving equations,
- Writing repeated multiplication using exponents,
- Exponent laws,
- Solving simple exponential equations,
- Applications of exponential equations.
Originally created for Ontario's MBF3C and MAP4C courses, this set of questions is suitable for students working towards applying exponential algebraic models to real-world situations, such as investments, population trends, and applied sciences . * Please see the thumnails/preview file to make sure this product is right for you and your students *
This set is also available as part of a bundle: Mathematical Models Task Cards
Suggestions for Use:
Block-tower style review: combine with 3 other units, for a total of 48 questions. Assign each block in a tumbling-tower type game a question code. Students must complete the question on the block selected before re-positioning it at the top of the tower. Teams race for the top!
Structure building challenge: use 1 or several units. Assign a value in marshmallows and spaghetti for each difficulty level. Alternately, use a dollar-store ball and stick (or similar) building toy. Teams earn building materials by correctly answering questions. The team with the tallest tower/strongest structure wins!
Laminating and/or printing on card stock helps to keep the cards in good shape for repeated use. Consider laminating the tracking sheet and having the students record their work with whiteboard markers.
