Description

These no-prep math worksheets are a fun and engaging way for students to practise simplifying and manipulating exponents. Students will use exponent laws to find equivalent expressions which form a path across the maze. With varying levels of difficulty, these mazes are great for mixed-ability classes and a range of students.

I especially like to use maze matches as they get students reasoning about a question as they try to find the path. Sometimes they might be able to see quickly why a question won't give the desired answer using good mathematical reasoning, and sometimes they'll just try and work it out. Both excellent mathematical skills!!

Contents- in this pack you will find:

  • 8 different mazes (A-H) of varying levels of difficulty with questions on manipulating exponents and finding equivalent expressions.
  • Teacher solutions showing the correct path through each maze. This answer key makes for easy, quick assessment.

Suggested Use

These worksheets are versatile and can be used to enhance individual learning or promote teamwork:

  • Individual Activities: Let students navigate through the mazes at their own pace, making it a perfect task for independent work or homework. The differentiated levels means you can target the different needs of your students.
  • Team or Pair Work: Encourage collaboration by having students work in pairs or small groups to solve the mazes together.
  • Relay Races: Add excitement by setting up relays where students solve a step and then pass the worksheet to a teammate, fostering a dynamic classroom environment.

A quick look at the paths students have found in maze will help you get a quick assessment of their learning.
