Description
This is a multiple-step word problem that is solved using a unit bar approach similar to Singapore Math. Students will work with fact families, number bonds, algebra, addition, subtraction, double digits, and more!
The instruction relies on prompting and questioning by the teacher to help students problem-solve through discussion while they draw out the operations. It can be completed in small groups, centers, or as a whole class.
I tried this activity with my own students. I've also included directions, 8 pages of step by step, and even some scripting. This math "problem" should last you at least three days in class. It's awesome!
